Our 2026 LA Marathon training season officially kicked off on Saturday, September 13! Over the next few weeks, we will continue to introduce our awesome LA Marathon Pace Leaders as well as our Marathon Coach. Find out why they run and some fun facts that could spark a conversation during your next group run! This week, we meet Irene and Amelia, our Pace Leaders for our 13 Minute Pace Group!

Why do you run? Exercise is the best medicine!
Favorite post run snack/meal? Brunch/coffee!
Running Mantra: I got this & she se puede…I alternate mantras!

What do you do for fun? Movies, concerts, reading, traveling
Do you have a secret talent? (Please share): I have no hidden talents whatsoever!
Anything else you’d like your fellow Pacers to know? I began my running journey with the Pacers 5 years ago (with Jan Z. as Pace Leader!) We ran 22 miles in the torrential rain! It was then I realized I could do anything I put my mind to. Thanks Jan. You were a great Pace Leader ❤️

How long have you been with the Pasadena Pacers? This is my eighth season with the Pacers, and I’ve loved every mile of it! (We run smart, not hard 😉)
How many marathons have you run? 26 marathons so far…and counting! Each one feels like a whole new journey 🤗
Why do you run? I run to challenge myself, clear my mind, and celebrate what my body can do. Running keeps me grounded, grateful, and connected to an amazing community.✨
Favorite post-run snack/meal: Fruit🍓, a cold Coca-Cola🥤, and a peanut butter & jelly sandwich… hits the spot every time!
