Do you have a secret talent? LOL, none that I can think of or that has been pointed out to me.
Anything else you’d like your fellow Pacers to know? I’m an avid sports fan. My favorites teams are the Dodgers, Lakers, Rams, and, most important, the UCLA Bruins!
Gina Leon
12 min/mile Assistant Pace Leader
How long have you been with the Pasadena Pacers? I joined the Pacers in 2015 for LA Marathon training.
How many marathons have you run? I’ve done a total of eight marathons, five of those in LA.
Why do you run? I was always one of those people who said, “I can’t run,” It hurt; I was slow and I just didn’t want to do it. Then, in 2010, my aunt got me to sign up for my first half marathon and the rest is history. I felt strong; I was hooked and haven’t looked back since.
Favorite post-run snack/meal: Any kind of breakfast food!
Running mantra: I don’t have a mantra as much as I check in with myself. I focus on my body and repeat “strong, healthy feet; strong, healthy ankles,” etc. all the way up to the top of my head and end with “strong, healthy heart, mind, and spirit.” I’ve also replayed my favorite TV shows and movies in my head. (The Office is a standard go-to in my mind.)
Occupation: Customer service for Honda.
Hometown: Pico Rivera, CA.
What do you do for fun? I love to read, watch movies, and this summer I’ve been trying to keep up with our boxer pups, Bugsy and Nala. And I run, of course!
Do you have a secret talent? I’m fluent in movie quotes. I can also tie my shoelaces with one hand—long story!
Anything else you’d like your fellow Pacers to know? Since I began running I’ve enjoyed it, but sometimes it felt like a chore. Since joining the Pacers, Saturday mornings are my fun time! I look forward to it all week. The Pacers are my tribe!
